Pacific Historic Parks is digitally preserving the story of World War II through a modern, virtual platform using the Geocaching Adventure Lab® app. The Geocaching Adventure Lab® experience is a combination of traditional geocaching – usually an in-person experience of hunting for caches at an outdoor site – and learning about the site using virtual resources, where players can learn more by viewing short videos, reading text narrative, and observing change over time by looking at historical pictures related to the site on a mobile device.
Ypao Beach Park Adventure for Kids
Join Dåndan the dukduk (hermit crab) on a mission to find his best friend, Ha’åni the haggan (turtle) at Ypao Beach Park (Governor Joseph Flores Memorial Park). Ha'åni loves to play hide-and-seek and she has left behind clues for Dåndan to find her, but he needs your help to solve them.
You'll visit fun spots around the beach shore that teach you about the island's incredible history, heritage, and environment. But that's not all – each time you solve a riddle, you'll unlock cool facts about the location you're at. With a total of seven sites to visit around Ypao Beach Park, you'll have tons of fun while learning about Guam's rich culture and history.
Hagåtña Adventure
Explore the historical heart of Guam by immersing yourself in the charm of Hagåtña, the island's capital. Embark on the Hagåtña Geocaching Adventure where your day unfolds with a leisurely stroll through the Plaza, peering into a Japanese tunnel, crossing a resilient Spanish bridge that withstood World War II bombardment, and unraveling the history behind old structures and monuments.
During this adventure, you will explore seven historical sites and solve riddles scattered within walking distance in Hagåtña. With each correct answer, unlock exclusive access to captivating videos sharing fascinating insights about each distinctive location. Completing all 7 riddles will guide you on a scenic loop around Hagåtña, covering approximately 1.5 miles.
Inalåhan Adventure
Nestled on the southeastern coast of Guam, the village of Inalåhan stands as a testament to the island’s rich history, where ancient traditions intertwine with colonial influences. With homes dating back to the early 1900s, Inalåhan has garnered recognition as a historic village in the National Register of Historic Places.
Gather your family and friends and embark on the Inalåhan Geocaching Adventure! This adventure invites you to explore the village on foot, leading you to seven historic sites that showcase the rich cultural heritage of the CHamoru people. Along the way, find virtual caches by solving riddles. Each riddle solved rewards you with exclusive access to a video revealing the unique stories of the places you explore!
