Pearl Harbor National Memorial offers a meaningful connection to the history of World War II in the Pacific, from events leading up to the December 7, 1941 attack to ongoing efforts of peace and reconciliation. It serves as a place of remembrance, honoring those who sacrificed their lives during the Pacific War. Located near Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, the Memorial includes the open-air Pearl Harbor Visitor Center, two museums, a theater complex, museum store, and the USS Arizona Memorial, all open during the government shutdown.

Hours of operation are: 7:00am to 5:00pm everyday, except for Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. 

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a reservation or ticket to enter the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center? 
No, reservations and tickets are not required to enter the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center, walk the grounds of the Pearl Harbor National Memorial, watch the 23-minute documentary film, or visit the two world-class museums.

How do I go out to see the USS Arizona Memorial? 
Pacific Historic Parks (PHP) partners with the National Park Service to offer the only complimentary day-of, in-person Navy operated shuttle boat tickets to the USS Arizona Memorial.  Visitors can join the free shuttle boat standby queue daily, which is first-come-first-served, at the USS Arizona Memorial Narrated Tour Desk.  Visitors can also reserve tickets up to 8 weeks in advance at recreation.gov for a $1 online reservation fee per ticket. 

How often do the USS Arizona Memorial shuttle boats run? 
The Navy operated shuttle boat to the USS Arizona Memorial runs every 15 minutes from 8:00am to 3:30pm, with a lunch break from 12:00 noon to 1:00pm. 

How can I get a tour of Pearl Harbor National Memorial? 
Since no in-person guided tours are allowed at Pearl Harbor National Memorial, Pacific Historic Parks created a comprehensive self-guided audio tour narrated by actress Jamie Lee Curtis, which takes visitors around the Memorial grounds, through two world-class museums, and out to the USS Arizona Memorial for a nominal fee. Visitors can pick up their National Park Service officially sanctioned audio tours at the USS Arizona Memorial Narrated Tour Desk. 

How can I watch the movie about the USS Arizona Memorial? 
There is a complimentary 23-minute documentary film available for all to watch in Theater 1, located to the right of the Tree of Life sculpture. Previously, the film was run in Theater 2, and was included in your experience prior to going out to the USS Arizona Memorial. The film is now optional and separate from the ticketed USS Arizona Memorial Shuttle Boat program. It is shown every hour on the :15 and :45, with the first showing at 7:15am and the last showing at 4:15pm.

Only water is permitted in the theater. This policy helps keep the theater clean and in proper working condition. Due to copyright restrictions, the park film is only available for viewing on-site at the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center.

What can I do for free at Pearl Harbor National Memorial? 

  • Go out to the USS Arizona Memorial with Pacific Historic Parks’ complimentary day-of, in-person Navy operated shuttle boat tickets.

  • Explore the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center grounds, museums, interpretive displays and documentary film.

Is there a parking fee at Pearl Harbor National Memorial? 
Yes, there is a parking fee that is payable onsite upon arrival at the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center.

What is the bag policy at Pearl Harbor National Memorial? 
Pearl Harbor National Memorial enforces a strict no-bag policy for items that offer concealment. This includes purses, handbags, backpacks, fanny packs, camera bags, diaper bags, luggage, etcetera, exceeding the dimensions of 1.5" x 2.25" x 5.5". Clear plastic bags used at athletic events/stadiums are allowed if all items can be viewed.  We recommend purchasing a clear jelly bag to hold your valuables at the Pacific Historic Parks Museum Store.  Read more about the bag policy at https://www.nps.gov/perl/planyourvisit/safety.htmPlease do not leave valuables in your car.

Where can I store my bag while visiting? 
The Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum operates a baggage storage facility near the entrance to the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center. There is a fee for storing any size bag, including luggage. 

What should I do if I have a medical condition that requires a bag? 
If you have a medical condition necessitating a medical bag, please disclose this to security upon arrival. While these bags are still subject to screening, they should only contain medically required items. The final decision rests with the Park Security Rangers, and additional time for bag screenings may be needed. 

How can I manage diapers and other care needs given the no bag policy? 
To accommodate diaper needs and similar necessities while adhering to the strict no bag policy, we suggest using clear sealable bags for these items.  Clear bags can be placed in the under-seat storage of a stroller, ensuring these items do not offer concealment, are secured from flying away, and are readily available when needed. Pacific Historic Parks also offers clear bags for purchase at the Pacific Historic Parks Museum Store. 

Are food and beverages allowed at the site?
Food and non-alcoholic beverages are permitted on site, but only water is allowed inside the museums, theaters, and on the USS Arizona Memorial. Due to the no bag policy at Pearl Harbor National Memorial, it is recommended to bring snacks and water bottles that can easily be carried. Please help us keep the Pearl Harbor National Memorial grounds clean by disposing of your trash. Thank you for helping us honor the heroes of World War II at this sacred space. 

Is there food available for purchase at the site? 
Yes, there is a small snack shop on-site that offers various snacks and cold beverages. 

Are there facilities to refill water bottles? 
Water fountains/re-fill stations are located throughout the park, allowing visitors to use and refill their water bottles. 

Is Pearl Harbor National Memorial accessible for visitors with mobility needs? 
Yes, the site is accessible with mostly flag paths and no hills. Benches are available around the visitor center, and wheelchair locks are present on US Navy-provided vessels that transport visitors to and from the USS Arizona Memorial. Wheelchairs are not available for rent at the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center. 

Can I use a rollator at Pearl Harbor National Memorial? 
Yes, rollators are permitted, but caution is advised. Rollators are not substitutes for wheelchairs. Please ensure family and friends with mobility needs use these devices safely.

Are motorized mobility devices allowed at the Visitor Center and on the USS Arizona Memorial? 
Yes, motorized mobility devices are welcome at the Visitor Center, on the US Navy vessels to the Memorial, and on the USS Arizona Memorial. 

Can I bring a stroller to Pearl Harbor National Memorial? 
Strollers are welcome on-site but are restricted to the USS Arizona Memorial pre-boarding area at the Park Theater. Strollers are not permitted on the US Navy vessels to the Memorial or on the USS Arizona Memorial. Please plan to bring a baby carrier for these areas if needed for the child(ren) in your party. 

Are children of all ages welcome at Pearl Harbor National Memorial? 
Visitors of all ages are welcome at Pearl Harbor National Memorial. However, there are specific guidelines for families with small children or infants to ensure a safe and enjoyable visit. 

Do infants and children need to be included in reservations for the USS Arizona Memorial? 
Yes, due to US Navy and Coast Guard safety regulations concerning boat capacity and life jackets, everyone, including small infants and children, should be included in your reservation at both the USS Arizona Memorial free standby queue, operated by Pacific Historic Parks, and for all online reservations made at recreation.gov.

Do military personnel receive special access to Pearl Harbor National Memorial? 
No, Pearl Harbor National Memorial is required to provide free, fair and equal access to all visitors, regardless of military affiliation. There is no special field or requirement for Military IDs, National Park Service Military Passes, Veterans Passes, or Access Passes when making reservations. Pacific Historic Parks is proud to offer a military discount for Audio Tours and Virtual Reality Experiences at the USS Arizona Memorial Narrated Tour Desk, as well as at the Museum Store.  Please show your military ID upon purchase. 

What are the dress code requirements at Pearl Harbor National Memorial?
Visitors are reminded that Pearl Harbor National Memorial is a memorial site of significant loss and serves as the final resting place for many heroes. It is a space for remembrance and reflection. Appropriate dress and conduct are recommended to honor the solemn nature of the site. Comfortable footwear is strongly recommended. Additionally, wearing a hat, sunglasses, and applying reef-safe sunscreen are advised. 

Military visitors may choose to wear civilian attire. Military visitors are subject to military dress regulations as the Memorial is within bounds of Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. Per COMNAVREG Hawaii Instruction 1020.2N, military visitors in uniform are required to wear Class B attire or better to gain access to the USS Arizona Memorial. Battle dress uniforms are not permitted on the Memorial but are allowed throughout the visitor center and on Ford Island.

What is the passport to Pearl Harbor, and do I need it? 
The Passport to Pearl Harbor, available on recreation.gov, covers neighboring non-governmental museums that charge their own admission fees. These museums are accessed through the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center, which is free to enter. You can also purchase individual tickets at the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center in-person on the day of your visit. 

How do I get to the Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum, Battleship Missouri and Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum? 
The Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum is accessible via a walkway from the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center. There is also complimentary shuttle bus service to the Pearl Harbor Historic Sites located on Ford Island.  The shuttle bus is located on the parking lot side of the Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum, and runs approximately every 15 minutes.  The shuttle makes stops at the Battleship Missouri, Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum and then back to the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center. 

Are the Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum, Battleship Missouri, and Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum part of the National Park Service? 
No, these are separate and independent historical sites. Please visit their respective websites for more information on tickets and pricing.

How do I attend the December 7th Commemoration Ceremony? 
The December 7th Commemoration Ceremony is open to all visitors on the morning of December 7th. There are no tickets required for attending the ceremony. There is reserved seating as well as open, first-come first-serve seating available. We recommend arriving early for ideal seats and parking. Does the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center have a lost and found service? 
Yes, we do have a lost and found service. If you’ve lost an item, please fill out this form: https://www.nps.gov/perl/lost-and-found-form.htm. Include your name, contact email (ensure it is spelled correctly), a description of the item, and the location it was last seen. 

What should I do if I lost an item at the Pacific Historic Parks Museum Store, Battleship Missouri, Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum, or the Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum?
